St Cloud MLS Merger
by Matt Wieber on June 19, 2009
You may notice a change on our website and many others today. The St Cloud MLS is in the process of merging the information in our system with the Minneapolis MLS and that conversion starts tonight. There has been a trend nationwide of Multiple Listing Services merging and it is now happening in Central MN. This trend has been fueled by cost issues and an effort to make the information on homes for sale as accessible as possible to all buyers.
The most noticeable difference to you as a buyer will be that you will no longer see duplicate listings of many homes on websites like Realtor.com or ColdwellBanker.com. This happened in the past because many offices in the St Cloud area belong to both the St Cloud and Minneapolis MLS and therefore have two listing numbers for each home. Many of the websites that buyers use to search for homes draw the data out of multiple MLS systems, resulting in duplicate listings for homes that are in more than one system. (You may have noticed in the past the 5 digit St Cloud MLS numbers and 7 digit Minneapolis MLS numbers).
We are ready at Central MN Homes. The Search for Homes feature on our website has already made the conversion to the Minneapolis system. Happy house hunting!
